New Year's Eve

Posted Dec 31, to Alice the Artlady fb

It's coming up for the official New Year Eve celebrations. I won’t be writing 2015 at the top of my posts any longer. It’s kinda sad it was a pretty good year. But before the old year leaves us I wanted to thank all of you for your support and encouragement.

For years I painted in the New year. Sometimes only 10 minutes on either side of midnight. Other years for a much longer. finishing well, often into the wee small hours..Such peaceful way to review my year as I painted after midnight.

Occasionally I created beauty out of my tears. Others I laughed great belly laughs.

Tonight for the first time in years I will bring in the New Year painting. My heart is singing.

I hope your heart sings as you welcome the New year . May it be everything you hope for and more

As for the 30 -30 Challenge … Roll right on in Jan 1st

I’m ready.

Gessoing Party

Dec 31, 2015

Had myself a little gessoing party this afternoon. Thirty eight canvases and panels of various sizes ready to go ... I made a couple of spares.

Yes, I know it seems a bit excessive but you never know and I confess I have plans for a couple of them aside from the 30 - 30 challenge. As for the rest of the spares let's just say I feel more secure having them waiting at my beck and call.

Hopefully I can get the video I made of my gesso party up before the this day is through. All though
fb wants me to upload it again. Sigh

Ain't technology grand?

No Sense fo control

Dec 30, 2015

I'm pleased to report I have picked up that paint. I do have to confess I went off the deep end around the idea of a new brush to fling about loaded with paint. I got seven of them. Even took their picture in honour of the occasion

It's clear I have zero sense of control when I'm in an art supply store. Anyone else have that problem?

I have paintings to hang back up (from my last show) before I put a foot through one of them dashing around in here.

Amazing how much stuff you can collect without noticing. Most of it serves no earthly purpose.
Then when you have to move things around it's very much OMG. where did that come from? Time to pass it on to someone who will appreciate it.

Tomorrow is gessoing day. Did I spell that right? Google doesn't seem to think so.

Look out Jan 1st. I'm very nearly ready.

I Got One!

Dec 29, 2015

I have a fireplace! In my studio area no less.

All right, it's not a brick and mortar contraption but It's cleaner. The installation was very tidy and there will be zero, did you read that? Zero ashes. No hauling logs and chopping kindling either.
It happened this way ...

Yesterday, my son and daughter in law came to install the flat screen tv they gave me for Christmas...

I secretly wanted to keep my old tv, put it in the lower part of the bookcase and play the Fire Loop DVD I had stashed, ( It's complete with roaring chimney sounds, crackling and spitting fire sounds)

They did it all ...

Brought me coffee and taught me how to play scrabble using the new gear to boot.

Best of all we laughed and laughed together. It was wonderful.

Thank you David and Meredithe from the bottom of my heart.

So, my studio is becoming a more and more pleasant place to paint those 30 Paintings in 30 Days.

The start time is in about 63 hours and 47 mins.

Anyone know how to embed a countdown thigny in here?

Here's the new set up

30 Paintings in 30 Days

This 30 Paintings in 30 Days idea was started by Leslie Seata a well know painter from California 5-6 years ago .
Last year over 1500 people participated and you can post your painting to her blog each day ... If you click link http://30paintingsin30days.weebly.com/ you will be able to see some freshly painted fantastic art work beginning Jan 1st from painters all over the world
As for me, I'm getting back in the saddle so to speak. Starting up painting again after a 14 year hiatus is a bit nerve wracking. What I knew I needed was a way to get me back into the studio every day just like in “my” good old days.
So ... all I hope is that I figure out how to do all this computer stuff but I gotta start someplace ... shoulda had more stuff ready before I posted ... but I did break some strong internal barriers just getting the page and the blog up last night ...whew!
And of course I’ll paint every day.
I am working to create some accountability for myself by doing this which is where you come in dear reader.
I'm both excited and scared but willing to give it a go.
Please drop in and encourage me.
So with fingers crossed and all that... I’ll begin on Jan 1, 2016
